“The last thing I need you commenting on is my luck,” Adrian snapped, and then sighed. It would figure Rose would be sleeping during the one time he’d sobered up enough to make contact through dreams. Being clear minded really was not his favourite thing to be right now, and having to talk to the one guy who always seemed to come between him and Rose? Not improving his mood. “Look, just know that they’re speeding up the process of nominations for the next king or queen. Time’s cutting a lot shorter than we thought, you guys need to be ready to run at any moment if things push forward as quickly as they’re trying to do it.”
Despite the other’s biting reply, Dimitri all but radiated calmness as he waited for the true meaning of this nightly visit to shine through – which it did, just a couple of seconds later. His face was unreadable as his mind churned, weighing and measuring Adrian’s words and what they would mean for their entire mission. With a curt nod, he said, “We are at a safe place right now, but I will keep that in mind. Thank you.” Pure business laced and lined his words; they couldn’t afford anything more personal.
